I didn't want an entirely holey scarf, so I changed some things. I started and ended the scarf with 3 sections of the 2(x2) stitch repeat followed by 6 rows of stockinette. About halfway through the scarf I added another single repeat of the stitch pattern. I also had one end 4 stitches wider than the other. It's a shorter scarf and I seem to like it better when you tie it and a narrower end lays on top of a wider end. Maybe it's some throwback to a reverse necktie....
In the pictures I don't have the scarf blocked, so it's curled, but the close up of the stitch is hand flattened so it looks much wider than the rest of the scarf. It's not, just the lack of blocking for the rest.
